Diamond Spikes Baseball Families,

There are few experiences that can cultivate the growth of young athletes; being part of a great team is one. When young athletes are part of a selfless group working toward the same significant goal, their experiences will influence who they are for the remainder of their lives.

As a coaching staff we would like all of our parents to understand and recognize each player as an integral part of our team. We put forth great amounts of time and effort to optimize the performance of our teams by positioning players where we believe they will help the team most.

Our Diamond Spikes staff believes that players develop, not by being sheltered from challenges in order to protect their self-esteem, but by competing against the best competition available. Winning is not the point but having the will to prepare and win is. We believe in not giving up and never giving in and never being satisfied with what you’ve done. We believe constantly striving to become the best that you can be is the point that matters. Wins and losses do not matter in the scope of life but thinking and behaving like a champion will guide you always.

Through preparation and play Diamond Spikes will learn life lessons about goal setting, dedication, commitment, sacrifice, team building, friendships and loyalty. As coaches and parents our goal is to instill the unequivocal belief and confidence in our players/children and their teammates. When our goal is met we have built champions on and off the field.

Keeping all of these thoughts in mind we have built a very special TEAM. I’m personally blessed to be able to coach a great group of athletes and have great COACHES who will go above and beyond for the players of the Diamond Spikes organization. Our coaches believe that “It’s about the team, not one individual regardless of the connection to the player.”

In closing let me take this time to thank the Coaching Staff and parents for getting the boys ready this winter. Remember it starts with us, as parents to build the foundation our boys need in life. I thank you the parents for that. If you ever have doubt or a question regarding anything having to with Diamond Spikes Baseball please contact any of the coaches.

The coaches and staff who make up the Diamond Spikes are a rare group of individuals. Each person exhibits passion for baseball and more importantly, a desire for each baseball player to hone their skills and to develop into the very best player they can be. Their dedication and attention to the individual is apparent in the way they approach training. It's not just about mechanics, it's about the player as a whole. My son made tremendous progress during Winter training. In this short period of time he experienced the best coaching in all his years of baseball. Diamond Spikes is by far the best training out there. There are so many organizations to chose from and I am so thankful and blessed that my son is with the Diamond Spikes. Coach Mike is a gem. He is direct and honest which is refreshing in this day and age. He sees the potential in the player and gives the player every opportunity to improve his skills. I especially love the talks that the players participate in. These talks empower the kids to understand the power of thought and how important it is to be present in the moment. They also provide proven techniques that raise self confidence and self awareness. The Diamond Spikes have already impacted my son in the short period of time that he has been with them. I look forward to many more years with this incredible organization!

To the staff of Diamond Spikes Baseball,

Our son, Michael, has been part of the DS organization for the past three years. Michael is currently a senior in high school and is preparing to make his final decision on the college he will attend in the fall. When we started the college application process, never did we think we would be in the situation we are now.  Michael has been accepted at all 9 schools to which he applied; and he has the opportunity to play baseball at multiple schools.

It has long been Michael's dream to play collegiate baseball. Unsure of the process, we were entering unchartered waters. But not for the guidance and expertise of the coaching staff of the DS and the knowledge of the recruiting coordinator, this could have been a arduous task.

From the start of junior year, Scott Hicok has guided me through the ins and outs of "college baseball".  Scott set Michael up on Field Level and assisted us in getting videos taken and uploaded on the website.  This has proven to be the best of first steps. Colleges actually use these tools. To this day, Michael is still getting looks and contacts from schools and coaches.

No matter the time of day or day of the week, I can email Scott with my "Mom-questions" and he is there with a response - on point, clearly articulated and real life answers that lead us to come to conclusions best fitting our queries. I started my letter writing campaign, got Michael started on emailing coaches and making connections. I was sure I was behind schedule; our emails were not being responded to, letters would go unanswered. Scott assured me, we were fine. Inside I was panicking.

At Scott's suggestion, we signed up for a college showcase at Baseball Heaven in August 2016. "Don't pay a lot of money for school camps. Invest wisely." This was the best advise we could have ever received. I won't lie, we spent on college camps thinking that being in front of the coaching staff would be beneficial. When you are one of many in attendance, you can't get the attention you want. Believe it or not, the schools will find you. I'm not saying you can sit by idly and then suddenly the doorbell will ring with a nice college package for your son - that won't happen.  Be patient and diligent, and let the DS staff get your team in front of recruiters at showcases and tournaments.

"Thank you" cannot express the gratitude we feel for the guidance and coaching we have received from Mike Cardino, Bill Faust and Scott Hicok. I can't wait to see Michael's name on the Diamond Spikes website under the 2017 College Signings. Great memories, lasting friendships and a deepening of our love of baseball came while proudly wearing a Diamond Spikes uniform.

To quote Scott, "It's very easy to get wrapped up with the sports facilities and team. At the end of the day, it's all about (your son's) education". Choose the best academic and social fit. Let's hope we decide well. Wish us luck as we traverse these final days until decision time.

Go Spikes!!
