As of January 1, 2018, the new USA Baseball Bat Standard was implemented. USABat Standard bats must be used in the Little League Major Baseball Division and below. Either USABat Standard bats or BBCOR bats must be used at the Intermediate (50/70) Baseball and Junior League Baseball Divisions. At the Senior League Baseball Division, all bats must be meet the BBCOR standard. Little League-approved baseball bats that were approved for use for the 2017 season will no longer be acceptable for use in any Little League game or activity as of January 1, 2018. Coach Scott Tip: Length- Stand next to the bat, the bat should come up to wear the pocket opening on pair of jeans is. Weight- Hold the bat by the end of the handle out in front of you parallel to the floor, you should be able to hold it 20 seconds without struggling to keep it horizontal. Cost- Less is more, some bats will run $300 or more, young player should find a bat in the $60-$100 range. There is no need to spend a lot of money since you will be changing sizes and weight as you grow.
If you are unsure when purchasing a bat, do not remove any wrapping or stickers until your coach inspects it.
